A fresh, breezy but pleasant evening saw another large sign-on congregate at Moynan’s cyle shop ready to compete in the Club Championship Road Race. It was a twenty mile (33k) race starting at the top of the Cloughjordan road and passing through Cloughjordan and Borrisokane to finish at Ardcroney. A group of seven riders headed for the line together and Eoin Woolley took third place just behind Brendan Delaney while Brian O’Neill, with a savage sprint, took the honours and became Club Road Race Champion for 2013 and very well done to him – and indeed to all who rode. The fastest man on the night was Pat Bergin with Paddy Rohan, Liam Callaghan and Dan Hogan right behind – all finishing on the same time.
Many thanks to our motor cycle marshal, Mike Sheedy, who saw the lads and lasses safely round the corners and to photographers, Selina and Vic – not to mention John Spillane, who arrived in time to help us sort out the charge across the finish line! A good nights safe racing – well done all!
