RESULT OF J.MOYNAN TT3
As we all know, a week makes a huge difference to the weather and this Thursday was no exception – sunny and pleasant but quite windy this week. We held J. Moynan TT3 which had been cancelled on 30th May and we used the Yellow Bridge – Birdhill – Yellow Bridge 10 mile route. There was a very large sign-on including one guest rider and in spite of the wind, the times were excellent. Tommy Hanrahan powered along the course to take a minute on his nearest rivals and was the night’s fastest man completing in 23.32 while Liam Callaghan took second and Pat Bergin was third. In the race, John Caulfield was just edged out of second place by Mikey Connors while in only her second race with the Wheelers, Selina Hynes took a massive three minutes off her previous time to take the win. A great achievement at any stage but especially when you are just starting racing. Very well done Selina!
And talking of achievements, last weekend Julie White represented the club at the elite women’s National Championships. Amazingly, she only took up cycling 18 months ago and rode with the club for the first time a year ago and in that year has progressed to be one of our finest and fastest riders. We are all very proud of her and we don’t doubt that it won’t be long before she brings the title home to Nenagh!
