Club weekend news
It was a very enjoyable weekend of cycling for our club members and once again the favorable weather conditions continued. On Saturday 29th Nov, although fewer in numbers, the usual race training spin continued. This weeks 120km spin took them over rolling countryside and over into Co.Clare. The route was Nenagh, Portroe, Ballina, Killaloe, Broadford, Dalys cross and back home to Nenagh on the N7. On Sunday the 30th we had twelve members out for the senior, intermediate and leisure morning club spin. This weeks route was Nenagh, Portroe, Ballina, Birdhill, and back to Nenagh on the N7. Some of the group decided in Ballina to extend the spin and continued on to O’Brien s bridge and then on to Castleconnell and back to Nenagh. A total of 65km. Well done to everyone who made the effort to go on this spin. keep up the good work.
The club enjoyed its first trip to BikePark Ireland, Fairymount farm near Ballingarry on Sunday 30th of November. What a great place!! This is a very well run park. Nine of our members ventured out on what was a cold but dry morning. Firstly they warmed up by testing out the enduro climb followed by the green trail which is the easiest trail and gradually moved on to the more technical Blue and Red trails which they thoroughly enjoyed. One member took on one of the black trails which was tough and extremely technical. As is often the case with mountain biking there were a couple of tumbles, but all involved thankfully escaped with just a few scrapes. It has been said that if you’re not coming off a mountain bike, you’re not trying hard enough! 😉 So well done guys… At the end of the day’s proceedings all had big smiles on their faces which says it all really. Everyone enjoyed a coffee after the spin in the onsite cafe that serves hot food all day. It would be very easy to spend a full day at the park which a lot of the people there were doing. It has a very friendly atmosphere and the owners and staff were most helpful. Everyone present had a very enjoyable morning and left looking forward to the next installment.
A reminder again of our annual Christmas dinner that takes place on December 13th at 7pm in the Thatched cottage, Ballycommon. This is always a great night out and we would ask you to do your best to attend on the night.  Everyone will enjoy a beautifully prepared three course meal with tea or coffee served after. At €24.95 per person this is extremely good value and the dinner portions are always very generous. Everyone is welcome so do bring family and friends along on the night, the more the merrier. We have our prize giving on the evening, so for those of you who have won club races we would urge you to attend on the night if possible to collect your prize and be recognized for your efforts during the year. There will be a selection of spot prizes on the evening. Also we have vouchers for our leisure cyclists in the club. Final numbers need to be in no later that the 9th of December.
