Club updates and spins

A very good afternoon to you all on this fine, sunny bank holiday Monday.  Well, we are finally back reporting again after the club trip to Mallorca and it really looks like we brought the sun home with us 🙂 What fantastic weather for the bank holiday weekend. Long may it last. There has been alot of activity in the club in the last two weeks and great to see the club being represented both home and abroad. So this week I think we will keep it nice and simple and the updates will be in pictures as there are quite alot of them…

Mallorca 312 2018

After all the months of preparation and training a great group of members and friends headed to the small Spanish island of Mallorca to take part the epic Mallorca 312 event. It was a great holiday for them all and they got a chance to get in some good training spins throughout the week.  The weather during the week was absolutely perfect for cycling and it was nice to soak in some of that Mediterranean sunshine that was seriously lacking here in Ireland.

Saturday April 28th everyone was up bright and early at 5am to get a good breakfast into them and make sure they were ready for the 7am start in Playa de Muro. It was such an incredible sight to see 8,000 cyclists from around the world line the streets that morning and the atmosphere was just electric and everyone was in high spirits. The 312 is no easy feat and takes in all the climbs that the Serra de Tramuntana has to offer, that aside, the scenery was just spectacular along the way.  It was such a buzz from start to finish and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Some serious organisation was involved to make that event a success and we want to say a big thank you to the event organisers for making it such a great day for all and for looking after us on the roads. Congratulations to everyone who took part and you can get an idea of what their week was like in the pictures below. Looks like you all had a brilliant time and thanks to you all for sharing your holiday photos and memories with us. They are looking forward to the 2019 event already…

Keeper CC Tour

Sunday May 29th we had great representation from the club at our neighbouring club, Keeper CCs annual tour. The weather was perfect and everyone enjoyed the day out. Edvins Silovs took the KOM on Shalee in the event so very well done Edvins. Thanks to Keeper CC for their kind hospitality as usual and for organising great routes, well done on a great event and well done to all who took part. Thanks to Keeper CC also for the great photos of the lads in action…

Open Racing Deenside cup

The club wants to say welcome back to David Kyle who was unfortunately out of action from the bike due to injury, so its great to see him back in action again at the Deenside cup last weekend. Hope you have a great season David and well done.

NTW J Moynan TT 2 2018 Results

Thursday last we had TT no.2 in the series.  It was a horrible, miserable night for racing but a brave few braced the elements and put in some great times on our 16km course.

When handicapped times were allocated we had a tie for first place with Eoin Woods and Luke Donnelly taking top points. Well done lads, great going! Well done to everyone who raced on the night and a particular mention for two of the lads who had some seriously impressive improvements for new personal bests and that was our joint winner Luke with a massive improvement and who seems to be getting stronger by the week! We can’t wait to see how much you’re going to improve over the season!! And also Andy English who has improved his time very impressively since his 1st race debut in early April. Also a special mention to Edvins Silovs who set a seriously impressive benchmark time in his first ever TT with the club and one of the fastest times in memory on a road bike with no aerodynamic aids… Chapeau sir!! Thanks to Jan for timekeeping, Conor for marshalling and thanks to Joseph Donnelly for the super pics of the lads in action…  Look forward to seeing you all Thursday night for road race no.3
