Club updates and spins

A very good evening folks. It’s been very quiet in the club for the last while, but now, finally, we’re back reporting and we’ve lots to fill you in on and a couple of events in the next few weeks to tell you about. We hope you have all been keeping well.

It’s been a very mixed bag of weather that we’ve been experiencing for the last few weeks… snow, rain, snow, ice, all in that order, so as you might have guessed, its been turbo, turbo and more turbo for a lot of club members and in fairness, at this stage, you must be all suffering from cabin fever so it was great to see a bit of an improvement this past weekend and a few of you getting in the miles outside again. Here’s to a great cycling season ahead and hopefully the break in the bad weather will last a while!

This is just a small summary of what has been happening in the club over the last few weeks.

Pilates/TRX  returned and a great class as always thanks to Paul Nevin fitness.

The second of our club open nights was held in Moynans bike shop and another enjoyable evening was had by all. It was lovely to catch up with everyone and we welcomed more new members to the club which is just fantastic. Thanks to Peter and David Moynan as usual for hosting the evening in their shop and yet again thanks to Jill for looking after everyone and making us warming tea and coffee on the night. Peter also provided a bike maintenance course after the open night which went down very well with those who took part. Knowing how to look after your bike is very important.  Thanks to everyone who helped out…

Turbo class is going very well with great numbers turning up on the nights and increasing every week which is great to see.  Those new years resolutions are well and truly being kept.  There are lots of local sportives happening this year so while the evenings are still short or the weather is not so great at least you can still get a good workout done indoors. Our class is led by Rob who is putting everyone trough their paces. Keep up the good work.

Portumna forest park MTB morning ( A little puddle never stopped them)

A video sent into us of a few of the lads over in Portumna forest park during the very wet weather at the end of last month.  Thanks Peter for sending in the video. Looks like ye had great fun.

Table Quiz

It’s that time of the year where we will yet again be hosting our annual table quiz! So who’s up for a really fun club night out, if so, please do come along on Friday evening March 2nd to the Dapp Inn, Nenagh. Our quiz starts at 9pm and we will have great prizes and spot prizes to give away. Get those thinking caps on folks. A table of four is just €20 so please bring along as many friends and family as you can on the night, the more the merrier. 🙂 Everyone is welcome.

If any of you can bring something for the raffle if at all possible on the night whether its a box of chocs or something small, It would be very much appreciated. You can drop them in to Jan during the week or bring along with you on the night. Thanks a mill folks…

NTW season opener all together spin

Looking to take part in a fun, leisurely paced cycle? Why not come along to our season opening all together spin on Sunday March 4th? It’s our bi-annual leisurely group outing where everyone spins together as a group and nobody will be left behind. We do these spins to welcome new members to the club and entice others back out of their winter hibernation… This will be a leisurely paced spin so if you’ve any aspiration of using that bike this year give it a dust off and get it ready for this great morning spin. Everyone is most welcome to join us on the morning, whether you’re a club member or not we’d love to have you there. We’ll do the usual and set off from Moynans at 9am and cycle out the Limerick road to Birdhill and then on to the Lakeside hotel for complimentary Tea/Coffee/Scones before returning to Nenagh via the Four Sisters, so we hope to see a big turnout on the morning. Remember, helmets must be worn, safety is our priority.

Older club gear still in stock

Also a reminder to everyone that Jan still has some stock of the old club gear ( Larger sizes only available) that we’re selling off at massively reduced prices so if you want some bargain training gear, give her a call on 087 1374354 for more info on what she has left…

Club bike fitting day

Seeing as we have some new members, we would like to know if any of you are interested in getting a professional bikefit done? If there is interest we can organise another club bikefit day in Moynans bike shop with Aidan Hammond of bike fitting Ireland, so if any of you are interested in this can you let Owen know on 0870523275. More info on Bike fitting available here: www.northtippwheelers.com/club-training/bike-fit

Mallorca 312

A great contingent of club members will be flying the club colours abroad this year on the beautiful island of Mallorca where they are taking part in this, one of the toughest one day international sportives that includes some renowned climbs and spectacular scenery. It’s a 312 km cycle on closed roads around the Island and it takes place on Saturday April 28th 2018 which is only 10 weeks away folks! The event will be here before we know it, so we hope your training is well on track now. Something for those taking part to look forward to.

Please remember everyone to send in a few words about club spins to us if you want a mention on the club notes, just to let us know how the spins went. People do like to read about what’s happening and keep up to date with everything on the website but it’s very hard to write about anything when no information is coming in to us. So don’t be shy, do send in your photos and reports to northtippwheelers@gmail.com especially once the sportif and racing seasons kick off in the coming weeks!

Thanks all…
