Club updates

The weather has been very changeable for the last couple of weeks and the winter is really creeping in on us quickly but there is supposed to be a little improvement this week so get out and enjoy it while you can! Our updates are in pictures this week so short and sweet.

Munster Hill Climb Championships

David Kyle was in action in the Munster Hill Climb Championships that took place recently hosted by Southside Wheely Wheelers. He was talking part in the M40 category. Its a short hill climb where riders are let go at 1 minute intervals. Just because its a short climb, do not let this deceive you! Its a 1.2km climb of ‘The Lacka’, averaging just under 11 per cent and with a peak incline of 15 per cent and an elevation gain of 119 vertical meters, Ouch! David took second place on the day in a superb time of 04:16 just 6 seconds down on the winning time which is great going. David took home the silver medal which is a fantastic achievement.  Congratulations David on behalf of us all in the club. Limerick CC Tour

Nanno Vuyk, Daniel Ronan and Rob Dalton took part in Limerick CC’s annual tour last weekend. Well done lads. Always a very well organised and run event.

Sunday

Well done to all the club members who took part in this years great Dublin bike ride that took place today.  Great going and thanks for sending us the great photos.

Sunday club spin

Traditionally reserved for the Spring, the Lake was chosen as the route for the Sunday Club Spin. 12 riders struck out on a crisp but promising morning and headed the anti-clockwise route. A nice steady roll over ensured a consistent and smooth pace. Four riders turned in Portumna and headed back as they had planned a shorter spin. The sun was out and the eight continued onwards towards the coffee stop in the Half Barrel in Whitegate where they enjoyed an extended stay and chat and the lovely refreshments sponsored by Spain Construction… Fair play Roger! 😉 The pace picked up from Whitegate but in fairness to all they did their turn at the front into a strong headwind, a few matches were lit so we regrouped at the top of Ogonnelloe and enjoyed a brisk leg to Killaloe. Andy who cycled into Nenagh swung off for a full English and the rest of the group headed over the bridge towards the four sisters. The wind never seemed to be at their backs and the N7 was not any different. The pace picked up again and the group fractured but all riders made it back to Moynans with a smile on their faces. It is great to see the progress that many of the new members have made this year so keep up the good work but it will mean more lake spins 🙂 Well done to everyone on the club spin this morning for completing the lap of the lake…
