Club Updates

NTW OPEN 36km TT

The club held our third open racing event of the year – the open 36km TT, last Saturday August 3 rd . The route took the participating time triallists from Nenagh to the roundabout at the Barack Obama Plaza and back. A strong field of 27 competitors included some of Irelands top time triallists. The fastest time on the day was set by Greg Swinand (Dan Morrissey MIG Practimo), pictured above receiving his prize from Conor Hannon, with a time of 46.06. All competitors completed the course safely and the organising team can be proud of putting on another well organised event. NTW presentation of cheque to The North Tipperary Hospice

The club presented a cheque for €300 to The North Tipperary Hospice last Tuesday 30 th July, before our regular evening spin. The money came from the proceeds of our club tour “Le Tour de Lough Derg”. We are delighted to be able to make this contribution to the Hospice which does such incredible work. RACING RESULTS

Last Thursday saw the running of the 2019 Club Championship Road Race. The race this year was combined with road race #3 in our Summer Series (Road Race 7 overall for the year). The course was a challenging and lumpy 50km route starting opposite the AIBP on the Borrisokane rd. and taking in Borrisokane, Carrigahorig, Terryglass, Ballinderry and Puckane, before the finish at Ballyanny. As this was a championship race, a handicap was applied to the groups – Group 3 had a handicap of 4m 30sec on Group 2. We had no Group 1 participants on the night.
Big congratulations to Martin Quigley, Club Championship Road Race winner for 2019! In a race where both Group2 and Group3 came together a good distance from the finish line, Martin held his nerve and timed his attack to perfection and produced a great sprint to take the title.
Chapeau Martin!
Second place went to John O’ Carroll and third place went to Liam Callaghan.
