Club Updates
Eoin Woods wins at THE NAAS CC OPEN TT
Club TT supremo Eoin Woods claimed a great victory in the A2 category at the Naas CC Open Time Trial this weekend, and in the process posted the third fastest time overall covering the 38.3km course in a fantastic time of 53.09. Also taking part in the event was NTW TT Specialist John Foote who posted an excellent time of 1:00.52. The event was held over the same route on which the 2016 National TT was held, so it is a good indicator of form heading into the rest of the season. Well done lads.

Edvins Silovs – Movie Star!
Not content with his meteoric rise through the categories from A4 to A2, Edvins Silovs has branched out into the acting business and NTW now has our own potential Hollywood megastar! Edvins has an extras part in a movie called “The Racer” about the opening stages of The Tour de France being held in Ireland and the unfolding drama surrounding a rider who, after being dropped from the team, is reinstated following a doping error. See the link below for more details. We look forward to hearing the updates and the invites to The Oscars.

Club Racing
After the highs of hosting the Munster TT championship the previous Saturday, club racing resumed on Thursday night with RR1 in the Summer Series for 2019. This is the fifth of eight races overall in the club racing calendar and the competition is heating up as the participants are getting stronger as we head into the peak part of the year. The route was an out and back affair, starting just after the roundabout on the old Dublin rd. at Upper Clashnevin, through Toomevara and Moneygall, around the first roundabout at Roscrea and back via the same route to the finish line a few hundred yards short of the start. The course distance of 50km marks a step up from the shorter distances of the Spring Series.
RESULTS OF RR1 (Summer Series)
Group 2
Nanno Vuyk
Andy English
Ian Kennedy
Liam Callaghan
John O’Carroll
Gary Rowan
Rob Dalton DNF
Group 3
Cathal Hanrahan
Eoin Dillon
Roger Spain
Mike Gleeson
Sean O’Neill
Brendan Hayden
Winner of Group 2 on the night was Nanno Vuyk who showed all his racing knowledge and strength with a great sprint to take the honours from Andy English in second place and Ian Kennedy in third. Liam Callaghan put in an effort with about 1km to go but was caught by Andy
leading the group. Then with the line in sight Andy decided to go for it, but started to fade about 100 metres out and that’s when Nanno struck – the wily Dutchman keeping his powder dry until exactly the right moment put on the afterburners and powered past to take the victory, his second race win this year. Well done Nanno!
In Group 3, Cathal Hanrahan put in a super effort to jump onto and then stay with Group 2 all the way to the finish to claim victory. Cathal is really coming back to form and is getting stronger every race. Special mention here to Eoin Dillon who in his first race put in a great solo effort to stay away from the bunch for the majority of the race and claim second place in Group 3, a fantastic result.
And finally, well done to Roger Spain who sprinted home for third in the group, showing again that he has power to burn!
