Club Updates

Club Spins:
It was a glorious weekend for cycling and we had a number of different groups out on the roads on
Saturday and Sunday. First up on Saturday morning were Eoin, Nanno and Owen who did a nice
80km spin taking in Dolla/Templederry/Templemore/Dunkerrin and back to Nenagh. Most of us
heading to Mallorca for the 312 are experiencing a little 312 anxiety I think, so I’m sure the boys
welcomed the chance to get a good spin in. In the afternoon, two boys who don’t suffer any such
anxiety – Eoin and Pat, were out burning up the road.
On Sunday a group of twelve went for a super spin taking in Dolla and Bollingbrook, down into
Doon (first coffee stop), Cappamore and on to Annacotty in Limerick where they turned for home.
On the way back they headed through Castleconnell, O’Briens Bridge and into Killaloe. There was
a split at this stage as the early season legs were getting tired, and it is also at around this stage
that the smell of fresh scones seems to overpower Cloughjordan men, and the call of The Wooden
Spoon was just too strong to ignore! The rest of the group headed back by Portroe. A super spin
well done. The Wooden Spooners took the easy route home, but fair play to them too as they were
carrying a lot of extra weight at that stage!

be aware of this information.
This coming Thursday night April 4th sees our club racing season kick off again, starting with the
first in the J Moynan TT series – TT1. The route is: Roundhill pub – Five Alley roundabout -Yellow
Bridge (16km). Sign on is at Moynan’s bike shop, leaving at 6.15pm for the race start at 6.45pm

of fun. See you there. Please make sure that you have lights and high viz for the spin home after
the race.
Please ensure that your cycling Ireland licence is up to date and renewed.  If it’s not
up to date for the 2019 season you won’t be able to take part in the race as you
won’t be covered by insurance…and remember that you need a Limited Competition
Licence.

The week ahead:
Now that the clocks have changed and we are back in Summer time the Tuesday spins will
resume again this week. Just remember that the evenings are still not that long so lights and hi vis
clothing are required if you are planning on being out near dusk.
A quick note of gratitude to Rob for the tremendous effort he made in running the winter turbo
sessions, and to all who supported it. Thanks to Liam Chadwick for organizing the hall again for
us. Also if you have left your turbo or anything else in Ballycommon then that needs to be
collected during the week.

Tuesday: Club spin leaving Moynan’s at 6pm (lights and high viz a must)
Thursday: JJ Moynan TT1, leaving Moynan’s at 6.15 sharp (see above)
Saturday: Training spin leaving from Woodies car park, Nenagh at 9am. (check first)
Sunday: Club spins leave Moynan’s at 9am. Routes to be decided on the morning.
