Edvins Silovs wins at Ras Luimni:
There is really only one story that everyone is talking about this week, and that is the superb win
by club member Edvins Silovs in the A4 category at Ras Luimni last Sunday. At around 2.25pm
last Sunday, word filtered through (thanks Ross!) that at 45km in the A4 race a NTW rider was 2-3
minutes clear of a chasing group who were themselves about 40 seconds clear of the main field. It
was almost a certainty, barring a mechanical, that we were going to have a winner in this
prestigious race. And that’s how it finished, with Edvins winning the race by a scarcely believable 3
minutes (approx.) margin. It was an outstanding performance by Edvins, and the club are buzzing
and very proud of his achievement. It really sets Edvins up to win more silverware this season and
his elevation to A3 is surely only a formality. Well done Edvins!

Club Spins:
Sunday Orange/Red Group club spin:
The Rob Dalton award for “Manning Up” this week goes to Mike Gleeson and Amy Judge who
braved the elements and went out on a spin last Sunday while the rest of us were enjoying the
central heating. The two guys battled the conditions and headed in to the AppleGreen and back to
Steeples for tea and scones. Fair play guys, you showed the rest of us softies up.

*** DATE FOR THE DIARY / SAVE THE DATE:
Again, to all club members, please offer your time to help out on the Open Race:
Our club will be running our Open Road Race on Sunday 24 th of March. This event was a major
success for the club last year and really put us in the spotlight as it was very well run, and we had
good numbers taking part. A huge amount of work goes into running an event like this, and a lot of
it goes on in the background in the weeks and months leading up to the day. We really need
every member of the club to do their best to help out on the day, and to support their fellow
club members who devote so much of their time into organizing the race. We are always in
need of marshals on the day in order to ensure the safe running of the event. So please, Save the
Date!
