Club Updates

The NTW weekly club update starts on a sad note this week.
We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Lulu, Joseph, Luke and Joey
Donnelly on the passing of Lulu’s sister Maria recently. May she rest in peace.

Club Spins:
Sunday Orange/Red Group club spin:
A request went out to those on the orange/red group spin on Sunday morning to send in a report.
Many thanks to those who kindly sent in reports! There was one report who’s author shall remain
nameless, which was chosen as the “winner” for this week. Get speculating…it goes as follows:
“Five went head first into the wind, heading towards Limerick, one proved hiding in a group
of five was possible! Turning for O’Brien’s Bridge at Daly’s Cross, a lively pace was set by two
Master riders, traffic lights on the bridge put an end to the increasing speed. A break came soon
afterwards in Killaloe, and oh what a feed it was! Scones, both fruit and plain, bowls of cream and
jam, flapjacks and buns washed down with cups of tea and coffee, these guys knew how to plan a
coffee stop better than the route! After finally agreeing on the route home via Birdhill, the pace
proved too hot for one, perhaps a case of overindulgence. Some stats from the morning, 1350
calories burnt, 60km covered, 3hrs in duration (including the lengthy stay in the Wooden Spoon)”
No mention of the calorie count that was consumed! Looks like there were a few opportunists on
the Sunday spin who decided that the end of the lean winter months should be properly
celebrated. To protect the guilty, they shall remain anonymous. Well done lads, hope to see ye at
turbo on Tuesday for redemption.
Sunday Green Group club spin:
Meanwhile, our committed green group were also out on the road. No over-indulging
scone/jam/cream/flapjack munching group these, just pure hardcore. The route took them out and
back to Nenagh on a dry but windy day, via Borrisokane, Ballingarry and Cloughjordan, with just a
quick stop for a warming cup of tea. Approx. 60km covered. Well done all.

NTW TABLE QUIZ

Just another reminder regarding the Table Quiz, please support it everyone:
It’s that time of the year where we will yet again be hosting our annual table quiz! It promises to be
a really fun club night out. So please do come along on Friday evening, March 1 st , to The Dapp
Inn, Nenagh. Our quiz starts at 9pm and we will have great prizes and spot prizes to give away.
Get those thinking caps on folks. A table of four is just €20 so please bring along as many friends
and family as you can on the night, the more the merrier. Everyone is welcome.
If any of you can bring something for the raffle if at all possible on the night whether it’s a
box of chocolates or something small, It would be very much appreciated. This is one of
our main fund raising events, so let’s work to make it a very successful and fun night out!

*** DATE FOR THE DIARY / SAVE THE DATE:
Again, to all club members, please offer your time to help out on the Open Race:
Our club will be running our Open Road Race on Sunday 24 th of March. This event was a major
success for the club last year and really put us in the spotlight as it was very well run, and we had
good numbers taking part. A huge amount of work goes into running an event like this, and a lot of
it goes on in the background in the weeks and months leading up to the day. We really need
every member of the club to do their best to help out on the day, and to support their fellow
club members who devote so much of their time into organizing the race. We are always in
need of marshals on the day in order to ensure the safe running of the event. So please, Save the
Date!
