Sunday Orange/Red Group club spin:
The orange/red group had a fine turnout of 14 members ready for road on a cold but dry Sunday
morning. The group departed Moynan’s at 9am and headed towards Cloughjordan, turning right
for Ballymackey and back on to the old Dublin road. A brisk pace was being set up front and the
cold wasn’t long being forgotten about. A few members turned for home at Toomevara/Moneygall
and the remaining 11 headed for Roscrea and a welcome coffee break. Leaving the warmth of the
coffee shop is never easy to do on a cold day, but we now faced a fairly strong breeze head on as
we made our way towards Birr. Turning left before Birr, we headed back towards Cloughjordan
and back to Nenagh. Unfortunately, Eoin D. had a significant mechanical outside Clough and we
hope that he is back on the road very soon.
Well done to everyone who participated, and to Pat who put in a mighty shift up front all the way
around.
Leisure Group Sunday club spin:
The Leisure Group had 5 out on Sunday morning, doing a good 60k in the conditions and stopping
for a coffee break in Cloughjordan.
Club Open Night #2:
We’ll be holding the second club open night on Monday 4 th of February in Moynan’s Bike Shop
from 6pm. This will allow existing members to renew their membership, and we extend a warm
welcome to anyone who would like to become a member of our club. On the night, prospective
new members will be able to meet with club members and members of the committee, ask any
questions you might have about cycling or our club, and get advice on the great selection of bikes
and equipment on display. For any new members that join the club there will be no membership
fee for their first year, but you will need to become a member of Cycling Ireland.
Club Membership fee: Adults €20 / Family €30.
Details of Cycling Ireland’s Membership Fees are available on the Cycling Ireland website.
*** DATE FOR THE DIARY / SAVE THE DATE:
Our club will be running our Open Road Race on Sunday 24 th of March. This event was a major
success for the club last year and really put us in the spotlight as it was very well run, and we had
good numbers taking part. A huge amount of work goes into running an event like this, and a lot of
it goes on in the background in the weeks and months leading up to the day. We really need every
member of the club to do their best to help out on the day, and to support their fellow club
members who devote so much of their time into organizing the race. We are always in need of
marshals on the day in order to ensure the safe running of the event. So please, Save the Date!
