Club Notes/next weeks schedule
We hope that you all had a great weekend and we hope that the daddy’s out there were spoilt with it being Fathers day… 🙂
The usual training spins took place during the week and are really growing in popularity all the time with big numbers turning out for them which is great to see. Everyone is welcome to join in on these training spins.
On Thursday we had road race No.8 in the series.
As it turned out, it was very eventful indeed… Unfortunately due to two members, Owen Hynes and Kevin Byrne, crashing out in the sprint to the finish and as some of the guys stopped to help them, only a few crossed the finish line and it was decided by our race committee that no points would be allocated and the race would be re-run later in the season. We are very pleased to say that both riders thankfully are doing ok and came away with only minor(if painful) injuries. You can read the full report here and we wish them a speedy recovery and hope to see them back out on the bikes in the very near future.
On Sunday we had the normal club spins that left from Moynans at 9am. We had a good turnout on the morning where we seen 22 cyclists out with 9 from our racing group and 13 from the leisure/intermediate group.  The faster group left before the leisure group on the planned route where they had a great tail wind heading out to Borrisokane, Birr and Roscrea and set a blistering pace, however once they turned for home they faced into a very strong headwind… It was however good training in keeping the bunch tight and the group worked very well together and shared the pain all the way back to Nenagh. Eva Moynan took on the race group spin and did great to stay with the group all the way around, so very well done to her. Keep up the good work Eva, it’s great to see more and more making the jump across to the faster group, a sure sign all the training spins are doing the trick! 🙂 Meanwhile our leisure/intermediate group also had a great morning spin. They’re making huge progress and are all making a great effort to keep up their training. They even went in to have a look at BikePark Ireland while they were out on their spin as they were passing by it anyway so everyone enjoyed seeing that. Remember our friends at Bikepark have a lovely cafe that can be used as a stopoff if the spins are in that neck of the woods. Well done to all the members who turned out for the spins it was great to see you all out.

We have a big number of club members who were lucky to get into this years Ring Of Kerry cycle that takes place in two weeks time and they are all preparing well for this fantastic day out on the bikes with about 12,000 cyclists tackling the scenic 180km route.  It will be a very big achievement for you all so enjoy the experience and the very best of luck to you all….
