Club Notes Weekend of Sunday 9th November

Feeling the cold – By all accounts we are still experiencing mild autumnal weather with the onslaught of heavy frosts and snow predicted for the impending winter months.  Whilst we wait, all members are encouraged to continue taking advantage of the relatively good cycling conditions and the efforts invested to date.  Whilst it might not feel like it at the time, there’s great satisfaction in winter cycling if nothing more than to keep the legs fresh for the spring.

Race training continued on Saturday last with a steady 110km covered via Thurles, Rearcross, and Newport before the return to Nenagh.  20 club riders set off on the 70km Sunday club spin (Birdhill, O’Brians Bridge, Dalys Cross, Newport, Dolla and Nenagh).  The group stayed together into the wind until Birdhill and then it split at Dalys cross with some heading back at this agreed interval to Nenagh and then senior riders riding the remainder of the route.  Great opportunity for progression between groups and abilities and all members should continue getting out on these rides.

A reminder to all members that the Club AGM will be held next Monday the 17th November at the Dapp Inn Nenagh at 8pm.  The AGM is an important opportunity to find out more about the club and presents the opportunity for members to ask questions and offer opinion in club matters.  All members are requested to attend. Nomination papers have been sent to each member by post.

The club extends its sympathy to club and committee member Mike Molamphy on the recent passing of his farther Mike Molamphy of Coolbawn.

Training spins and rides continue this weekend.  Race training leaving Woodies carpark at 9am on Saturday, and senior/intermediate and leisure group rides leaving Moynans Bike Shop at 9am on Sunday.  All levels are catered for on Sunday. This is a perfect time of year to try group cycling so why not come along on Sunday morning and try it out if you are new to cycling.
