Club Notes Weekend of Sunday 27th April 2014
Interest and momentum by members in club spins and training rides continued this week despite the break in the recent warm and dry weather. On Saturday last, a small number ventured out in inhospitable wet and windy conditions but managed to cover a distance of 85km via Cloughjordan, Ballingarry, Carrigahorrig, Terryglass, Puckane and a return to Nenagh.
With Sunday came an increase in temperatures and riders with over 10 riders leaving Moynan’s Bike Shop at 9am to take on a 110km challenging return route that brought them to Toomevara, Moneygall, Borrisoleigh, Upperchurch, and Dolla before Nenagh.
The previous Tuesday night saw two separate groups on the road – one on the scheduled club training ride leaving Moynans at 6pm, whilst the other travelled to Gooig, Castleconnel to represent the Club at the Limerick Cycling Club Summer league. Well done to all members who took part in club spins this week showing committed training in advance of the Club’s annual Tour of Lough Derg which is scheduled only weeks away on Sunday May 25th.
This week, training riders will continue over the weekend and next Tuesday night at 6pm from Moynan’s bike shop. Club racing will continue this Thursday night (May 1st) which will be a 20km time-handicapped road race starting from the Five Alley (old N7) and finishing in Dolla. Sign-on is at 6.15pm at Moynan’s Bike Shop Nenagh before cycle to the start line at 6.30pm sharp. Sign on will also be available on the start line.
