Club notes weekend 22nd/23rd November

back row: Kevin ByrneIt has been a busy week in the club.  It started off on Monday night last the 17th of November when the club had its annual AGM which was held in the Dapp Inn. The meeting covered many topics including how the club has progressed and has been run over the last year and also trying to find ways to improve the club even more going forward. The club has increased in size with new members joining which is always great to see. A new committee was elected on the night for the 2014/2015 upcoming season. Each committee member has their own specific role to play in the club, each one very important. In the featured picture we have, Back row: Kevin Byrne(Hon. Treasurer), Gary Rowan (club racing), Owen Hynes, Selina Hynes(PRO), Brendan Hayden, Eoin Woods. Front row: Joe Kelly(Leisure cycling), Mike Molamphy(leisure cycling), Mike O’ Keeffe (Secretary), Patrick Bergin (Chairperson), Jan white (club kit and finances) and Liam Callaghan (club racing). We thank everyone who attended on the evening and wish the new committee the very best of luck going forward.

Ideal weather conditions greeted our riders over the weekend which is always a bonus when going out on a long spin. Saturday saw a group of six riders leave Woodies car park at 9am and head off on their four hour, 120km cycle. The group headed out to Roscrea where they then headed to Birr then back to Nenagh via Borrisokane. It was a good steady spin on the day and a few sprints were thrown in for good measure on the way home. The Fine weather continued on Sunday morning. It was an extremely cold start to the day with a heavy frost on the ground. Despite the cold conditions, a hardy twenty riders turned out on the morning all wrapped up well and ready to go. The 77 km route was Nenagh, Toomevara, Ballinamona cross, Templederry, Dolla, N7, Ballina, Four sisters, and back to Nenagh.  The route was shortened by some due to the frosty morning and in turn taking a shorter route home. Overall everyone enjoyed the morning spin and the chat along the way. It is great to see such large numbers of people turning out for this Sunday spin so we urge you to keep up the good work.

Club member Pat Bergin tested out the new BikePark Ireland in Fairymount farm over the weekend.  He said it was a very enjoyable experience and that the park was a great place to MTB. There is an uplift service at the park to take you up the hill so you can save all your energy to really enjoy the downhill! The club plans to do a mountain bike morning there on Sunday next the 30th of November.  Times and arrangements will be posted on the North Tipp Wheelers website and on our Facebook page during the week, so keep an eye out for that.
We are trying to put together a text alert service for those interested in meeting for mountain biking so for those of you who wish to receive these notifications please send on your name & number to Selina Hynes (PRO) on 087 9177355 and we will add you to the list.
