Club Notes/ This weeks spins
We hope you all had a good week and weekend everyone.
Tuesday evening a few of the lads went mountain biking in Cloughjordan and a few also on Thursday evening on Coum. Don’t be afraid to give these spins a go they are great fun and something different to try in the evenings.
Wednesday evening the club held another successful AGM where members were told what has been happening in the club over the last year. The new Committee was elected on the night, so we would like to wish the Committee the very best of luck going forward to the 2015/16 season. There was also plenty of talk about what we want to accomplish next year with a Mizen – Malin high on the agenda. More to follow on this…

Friday club member Eva Moynan travelled to Amsterdam for the weekend as part of a select group of four ladies who were chosen to represent Munster at the indoor velodrome training camp in Alkemaar, Holland! Eva said she had the best experience and said that the track was very steep and a bit daunting when you’re riding up by the barriers. She won a mini race so she was well pleased. Well done Eva an incredible experience and opportunity to get.
On Saturday morning a few of the lads had their race training spin from Woodies and covered around 90km on what was a fabulous morning.
On Sunday morning 15 cyclists took part in the club cycle. All the group stayed together until Toomevara where a split by abilities took place. The leisure/ intermediate cyclists continued to Templederry where they were awarded with beautiful views of the countryside from the hillsides which rivalled the views of the Ring of Kerry. For the first day of winter the cyclists were granted a glorious day with the sun out and blue skies for some of the cycle but there was a stark contrast once we got as far as Ballinamona cross where we encountered dense fog and it felt like the temperature dropped by 10 degrees when the sun’s rays were taken away from us!! Thankfully it didn’t last for long and after a while the sun came back out to smile on us and it made for a fantastic morning on the bikes. For a few the spin was then completed back to Nenagh where it had began but most, given the lovely morning, opted to continue to Birdhill and around by the lake to Ballina and Portroe before returning to Nenagh.
Awards Dinner
Our our awards night is drawing close now and it will be held in the main function room at the Thatched Cottage, Ballycommon. The dinner starts at 7pm. A three course dinner with tea/coffee served afterwards will be served to us and all for the super price of just €25. Our prize giving is earlier this year as we do understand that coming up to Christmas everyone has a lot happening and have other commitments on and might not be able to make it. So there’s no excuses now folks as it’s in November 🙂 Remember, everyone is welcome to join us on the night so do bring your family and friends along for a fun filled evening. We want final numbers please by Wednesday 11th of November as the restaurant will want to know how many people to cater for which is only fair. Please contact Jan on 087 1374354 to confirm your attendance… Thanks everyone and we look forward to seeing you all very soon 🙂
