Club Notes / This weeks spins
Hi all, we hope ye have all had a good week, with a mixed week of weather we hope ye have all been able to get out on the bike.
Tuesday
On Tuesday we had our normal evening spin, We had four club members out on the evening, the group left Moynan’s and rolled out to Cloughjordan and from there they headed on to Borrisokane and then the grouped cycled on to Ardcroney and from there they headed back to Nenagh, A good spin was had by the group well done to those who were out on the evening.
Tuesday
On Tuesday evening we had a few club members head to Knocknacree woods in Cloughjordan to do a bit of mountain biking, it looks like the lads a great evening on the trails well done to those who were out.
Sunday
On Sunday morning we had some of our club members head to Knocknacree woods, it looks like a good place to go mountain biking and from the pictures it would seen like the lads had a great morning out on the trails, then Eoin and Liam headed to Solabeg bog on the board walk for a while which from the look of the below picture looked a bit slippy.
End of season night out and BBQ this weekend!!
To mark the end of the main cycling season and our 30th anniversary the club would like to invite you all to join us for an end of season club night out in Una Powell’s Pub on Saturday night 30th September at 8pm. We’re putting on a BBQ for all our members and their families that wish to come along on the night, there’s no cost to you only what you drink. We just need to know numbers attending so we can organise enough food so please let Selina(087 9177355) know with a simple text if you can make it on the night and how many of you are coming as she is doing the catering. We have to know final numbers by Wed 27th for the catering so please don’t just turn up on the night as if you don’t let us know you’re coming, you’ll be hungry on the night!! Please do come along on the night and let the hair down after all your achievements during the year! It’ll be great to see you all there!! 🙂
This week’s Club Training spins are as follows:
We’re making some changes to the weekly spins or at least the way we have been organising them. We’re trying to allow more leeway to pick the best spins for the conditions(i.e. for wind direction or distance based on conditions) and also to reduce the admin work required on a weekly basis so for the next few weeks at least we’re no longer going to post up the weekly spin route each week (or email them out) but we have put together a new page on the website with several routes to choose from here: http://www.northtippwheelers.com/club-training/club-routes/. After we try this for a few weeks and we see how the changes go we can revisit it if needs be.
So the idea is everyone will meet at Moynan’s before the scheduled 9am depart time (allow about 10 mins) and decide a suitable route based on who’s there and the morning’s conditions and split into groups as required.
As we won’t be sending weekly notices about times, when there are any time changes to any of the spins then you’ll see a Facebook post and an email letting you know about it in advance. For the moment the normal spins remain unchanged to:
Tuesday: Club training spin leaving from Moynans at 6.00pm.
Thursday: Club training spin leaving from Moynans at 6.00pm.
Sunday: Club training spin leaving from Moynans at 9.00am.
Depending on numbers present, there will be up to three groups with defined speeds.
- Firstly a “Green” group that will be for beginners/leisure and that group will be in the region of 20-24kph.
- The next group will be the “Orange” group which is an intermediate group and will be controlled at 25-29kph average.
- Finally we’ll have a “Red” group which will do a 30kph+ average.
Saturday pre BBQ cycle:
For this week, seeing as we’re having our end of season BBQ and night out on Saturday night we’re going to have a Saturday morning cycle to give everyone the opportunity to have a well deserved lie in on the Sunday morning. We’ll depart from Woodies (as parking in the town centre is only for 3 hours on Saturdays) at 9am so be there a few minutes before to plan the route. See ye all there! 🙂
We hope you have a great week everyone and hopefully we’ll see you out and about on the bikes during the week and weekend.
