Club Notes / This weeks spins
Hi all, we hope ye have all had a good week, with a mixed week of weather we hope ye have all been able to get out on the bikes.
Tuesday
On Tuesday we had our normal evening spin, the group headed out from Moynan’s to Cloughjordan and from there they headed across the bog road to Moneygall where they went up Army hill and did a loop and came out on the main road to Toomevara once the group reached Toomevara they turned and headed for Dolla and on to the Slivermines, With the evening starting to turn a bit dark the group decided to head for home from the Slivermines a distance of 60kms was covered on the evening, well done to everybody who was out on the evening.
Thursday
On Thursday evening we had a return to club racing with the Lookout trophy race, It was not the nicest of evenings for racing but that did not deter people from showing up and we ending up with a good turn out on the evening, We had three groups take to the start line on what would be a testing route for everybody with a final push up Portroe hill just before the finish line, At the end of the racing it was Daniel YonHin who crossed the finish line first to take a fine win on the night with Eoin Woods following close behind to take second place and Pat Bergin completing the podium, fair play and well done to everybody who was out to race on the night, and thanks to Jan for doing the start and finish.
Saturday
On Saturday we had three club members Stephen Hogan, Eva Moynan and Peter Moynan head off west to take part in the ring of Clare, by all accounts it was a very good day out, the Weather was good too except for one shower near the start it was very windy for the first half of the cycle but there was plenty of sun around for the rest of the spin, it was very lumpy the whole route with no flat road all day long, A very well done to ye on completing the spin.
This week’s Club Training spins are as follows:

Depending on numbers present, we’re going to split into three groups with defined speeds.
The 3 groups are;
- Firstly a “Green” group that will be for beginners/leisure and that group will be in the region of 20-24kph.
- The next group will be the “Orange” group which is an intermediate group and will be controlled at 25-27kph average.
- Finally we’ll have a “Red” group which will do in the region of 28-32kph average.
We’ll split into the different groups in the carpark, with Red leaving first, then Orange and finally Green. The orange and red groups will cover the same route but there is also a green group spin that should only take about 2 hours cycling and includes a coffee stop.
