Club Notes / This weeks spins
Hi all, we hope ye have all had a good week, with the good weather continuing last week we hope ye have all been able to get out on the bikes. Its set to continue so make the most of it while you can…
Tuesday
On tuesday we had a few members out for a lovely evening spin covering a distance of 85km.
Wednesday
We are into week 4 of our BFL course & it is fantastic to see the participants return each week eager to learn new skills and techniques which they will greatly benefit from out on the road and build their confidence cycling in groups. This week we demonstrated and spoke about the correct use of gears and cadence, the benefits of group cycling, following a wheel and the importance of wearing sun/prescription glasses. After a quick recap done on safety calls we split the participants into two groups with both groups covering over 20kms which is an increase of 10kms for both groups. So very well done to all, we look forward to seeing you all next week for an even longer spin. Don’t forget to go for a couple of practice cycles during the week! Thanks to Selina for the great photos on the night.
Thursday
On Thursday evening we had the second race of our J Moynan TT Series, It was great to see another good turn out of club members and also we welcomed members from Lower Ormond CC and Portumna CC who joined us on the night. The route for the 16km TT was the Roundhill- Five Alley Roundabout- Yellowbridge. On the outward leg they had a very energy sapping head wind to to deal with but they ploughed on. Fair play to Lulu Donnelly, Willie Percy and Brendan Hayden on completing there first ever club race and hopefully we will see ye out again, well done to Eoin Woods who had the fastest flat time on the night. After the handicapped times were calculated our overall winner of the J Moynan TT2 is Joey Donnelly. congratulations Joey. Thanks to Selina, who at last minutes notice did the sign on and the time keeping for us, thanks to Conor, Olivia, Rob and Eoin Ryan for the Marshaling and to Vic, Tracy for the fantastic pictures as always.
Winner of J Moynan TT 2, Joey Donnelly.

On Saturday morning, two of our club members Noel Kennedy and John Caulfield took part in Tullamore Cycling and Touring Club’s tour around Lough Derg. A spin thoroughly enjoyed by all.
