Club Notes / This weeks spins

Hi all, we hope you had a good week.

Tuesday and Thursday evening we had our usual turbo training sessions and they are still going very well. Everyone is enjoying these training evenings while getting in some very good base mileage and we are delighted to see all the new members who are giving these session a go, a very warm welcome to you all. If you haven’t tried out these turbo evenings yet, please do not be shy, we have a few club turbo trainers spare there for you to give it a go and it’s only as hard as you make it on yourself!

Sunday Spin

We welcomed some new faces out with us Sunday and its great to see ye out with us. We hope you enjoyed your club spin.
It was decided both the green and orange groups would merge together and travel in the one direction following the planned route to Puckane, Balinderry, Borrisokane, Birr, Bikepark Ireland, Cloughjordan, Moneygall and home to Nenagh. There were a few options of turn back points towards Nenagh if anyone was finding the going tough.
10 riders set off together  from Moynan’s and headed to Puckane where they picked up 2 more members along the way. One member was very unfortunate in the group where his tyre was punctured by glass on route to Ballinderry, he was unable to continue with the group so his spin came to an abrupt ending so they later continued on, making up good time on the route, always regrouping along the way so as to not leave anyone behind. In Borrisokane some of the green group decided to head back towards Nenagh which would give them a fine spin of around 50km for the morning which was fantastic considering the route they had travelled, so well done to ye all. Everyone else headed on towards Birr and it was noticed that the pace had quickened due to a developing tailwind… After Riverstown they turned right and headed black in the old Birr road where they all stopped for a well deserved coffee and chat in Bike park Ireland. They made the homeward journey through Cloughjordan and  Moneygall where the brilliant tailwind they had experienced to Birr turned into a strong headwind home making it tough going. They worked well together to shelter each other and all arrived safely back to Nenagh. So kudos to you all.

The Donnelly family out on the Sunday club spin

Meanwhile our race training group took on the lake spin, anticlockwise.
6 members left from Moynan’s which meant due to heading in the anticlockwise direction there was a stiff cross and head wind for the majority of the journey, resulting in a low average speed but the power was still good. They did 3 long tough Intervals, with a strong pace being maintained in between each one. They rode home at a very lively pace on the final stretch to Nenagh. Well done lads.

Race training group out Sunday morning getting in some good miles

Don’t forget folks, if you want a mention in the weekly notes please don’t forget to send in your spin reports to us, we would love to hear from you. If you don’t send in the reports we can’t post any spin news that you all love to read each week. If you can have the reports in no later than 6pm on a Sunday that would be great. Thanks a million.
