Club Notes / This weeks spins

We hope that you all enjoyed the weekend.

On Wednesday evening last we had our final Mizen to Malin meeting where we sorted out the final details of our upcoming trip, everyone was in great spirits and the excitement is building, with just over two weeks to go until we take on the 720km journey along the Wild Atlantic Way. The event takes place on August 4th to 8th and we will have lots of updates for you along the way.

Thursday the weather for our championship TT race was unfortunately miserable and lead to only a hardcore few turning up to compete for this title so fair play to them. There were some monster efforts put in by the lads in the tough conditions and the evening was won with an absolutely gargantuan effort by John Foote who showed some stunning form so a massive well done to you John, our TT champion of 2016.
Well that’s our first championship race concluded and we’re looking forward to the rest or our club champions being crowned over the coming weeks. A very well done to the rest of the lads on the great performances also, and thanks as always to Jan for timing, Selina and Vic for the great photos of the TT which you can see here and here and thanks to Conor for marshalling.

Sunday we had a fine turnout for our club morning spin, the fine weather brought everyone out 🙂 The route was a hilly one taking in Army Hill, Upperchurch and the rolling roads to Newport via Rearcross, a total distance of 100km. Everyone rolled out together at a easy pace and by the first roundabout heading towards Toomevara the groups automatically split. The first climb of the day, Army Hill outside Moneygall was conquered, everyone regrouped at the top for a few minutes and then they all cycled on to Borrisoleigh where a small stop was made to get a group photograph. The Leisure/ intermediate group went on to to complete the 100km spin, fantastic stuff folks while a few others headed back towards Nenagh via Templederry getting in a spin of 80km. All in all a great day was had by all and we will see you all out again next weekend. We would like to mention that everyone is welcome to join us on our club morning spin regardless if you are joining us from other clubs, the more the merrier.
