Club Notes / This weeks spins
Hi Folks, we hope you’re all enjoying your bank holiday weekend!
We had the usual midweek training spins along with Road Race 3 on Thursday night. It was a definite case of all four seasons on the same evening making for a really tough evening on the bikes which can be seen in the great pictures here. A very well done to Joey Donnelly who took the win from Liam Callaghan on the night, followed closely by Rob Dalton in third. Great stuff lads!! Thanks to Selina and Jan for timekeeping and Vic and Tracy for some great pictures.
Saturday we had a couple of members take on a great hilly training spin here in Tipp while we also had 2 more members take on the epic Mallorca 312 sportive which is a gruelling day on the bike covering 312km but more to the point almost 4000m vertical!! Unreal stuff out of ye Pat & Eoin, we can only imagine what an epic event this is!!
Sunday we had a great training spin around the lake but in terrible conditions. The only kind thing that could be said about it was the rain was at least some way warm! 🙂 We had some groundbreaking nutrition in the form of chocolate muffins straight from a wet jersey pocket!! and also some of the most fashionable waterproof winter gloves (purple marigolds! 😉 ) but we have to admit they worked a treat and kept the numbness at bay for the day! There’s nothing like good craic and laughter to keep everyone warm when the weather is that testing! It was great to get a good long training spin into the legs now that the Mizen to Malin is starting to loom…

Open racing
We had one club member in action Sunday in the Frank O’Rourke A2 race in Co. Wexford, David Kyle. He was working well in a small break of 4 riders but suffered misfortune when he punctured out of the race during the third lap. Better luck next week David.

Keep this date for your diary folks it’s fast approaching now, only 2 weeks to go!! Our annual Tour of Lough Derg. We always have a fantastic day with great atmosphere, we meet lovely people, enjoy great cycling and enjoy good food. We would love to see you all there… Spread the word.
