Club Notes / This weeks spins

We hope that you all had a good week and weekend. We had a busy week in the club.

Tuesday eve we had our two NTW teams out training for the Visit Nenagh classic TTT team time trial on the old limerick road. The lads did very well on the night.  We are looking forward to seeing you all in action Saturday next the 16th of April and the very best of luck to you all.

Thursday evening seen the start of our 2016 club race season and it kicked off with the J Moynan TT 1. Big congratulations to Eoin Woods who took the win on both flat time and handicap after a phenomenal effort on the night! Very well done to you Eoin!! Thanks and well done to everyone who took part on the evening and to everyone who helped, our timekeeper Jan, marshals and photographers. Well done all.  To see the full results of the evening please click here.

Friday evening we had week one of our open TT league which started from Birdhill.  The time trial league will run over 20 weeks so it gives everyone a chance to enter it and test their skills. Well done to Eoin Woods who had the fastest time on the night. We want to say thanks to everyone who raced on the evening, our time keepers, photographers, and road marshals for their help. We look forward to seeing you all again on Friday evening and to this series growing in popularity as the season progresses. You can see all the photographs from the night on our Facebook page.

Saturday we had a few of the lads do some last minute training on this weekends Visit Nenagh Classic A4 route. They chose the right time to go cycling in the morning as later in the afternoon it turned very bad with hail and snow falling. Well done lads.

Sunday despite the inclement weather, NTW were very well represented at this year’s Kiladangan Cycling Challenge. Those undertaking the 120km route left the picturesque village of Puckane at 10am on the first loop. The pace was controlled but a split in Borrisokane saw 15 riders push ahead to make good time to the scheduled coffee stop in Ballycommon. A quick turnaround and some dry kit later a small group departed on the second leg of the route. The group were treated to a strong tailwind and made quick work of the N7 to Birdhill. Poor road surface on the way into Ballina had both Rob and Joey hitting the tarmac but luckily escaped with only some minor bruising. More importantly we were told that the bikes were fine 🙂 and both lads were able to complete the rest of the challenge. Punctures caused a couple of riders to end their spin early but not before completing 70km of the route. Punctures, cross winds, hailstones and crashes could not deter from another good day on the bikes.  A huge well done to everyone who represented the club and took part. Well done to Kiladangan GAA for hosting this great event, a huge success as usual. Below are a few pics thanks to Joseph Donnelly, Eva Moynan and Kiladangan GAA.

Open Racing

We had representation in Co. Meath Sunday from club member David Kyle in the Stamullen GP. He definitely had better weather for racing than we did here Sunday. Well done David for taking part.

I know it doesn’t feel like it at the moment but the summer is fast approaching so we need to get our order in for any summer gear you may need. Have a look at our club gear page which has details of what can be ordered along with prices and sizing charts. Sorry for the short notice but we need to get this in ASAP so please let us know if you want to order anything by no later than the 21st April.

Club Payments

A reminder to all North Tipp Wheelers. Peter and David Moynan are getting busy in their shop for the summer so if you need to pay in money for club gear or licences would you please put it in an envelope with your name and the amount and put it through Jan’s letterbox. If this is not practical, please give it to Moynans in an envelope with name and amount. Thanks all.
