Club notes
It was a cold start to the weekend spins, Saturday morning a small racing group headed towards Portroe, Ballina, Daly’s cross and back to Nenagh 75km.
On Sunday morning we had good turnout of 25 riders that headed towards Dolla where the group was split with the senior group heading towards Silvermines and the N7 at a faster pace than the Leisure group behind. Both groups turned off at Birdhill towards Montpelier, Dalys cross and up up the ramp at Birdhill to the Apple Green service station for a coffee stop. all the riders were warmly welcomed and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere before heading for home, cycling a distance of 75km.
On Monday night the 19th of January saw the first of our club membership evenings. We had a great flow of people into the shop and it was fantastic to see so many new members join our club. So to those of you new to the club, you are very welcome .Thanks to the NTW members who helped to make the evening a great success and thanks also to Peter and David Moynan for the use of their Bike shop for the evening.
Richie Greene of Focus bikes was there on the night and brought with him a collection of the new range of road bikes. They were fabulous bikes and started with entry level bikes all the way up to top of the range all out race bikes. He gave us a brief talk about the bikes and all the crowd enjoyed having a chat with him. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Richie for taking the time to attend our open night.
The second of these North Tipp Wheelers Club Membership Nights will be held in Moynans Bike Shop, Nenagh on Monday 26th of January from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. We will be helping existing and new members to register with Cycling Ireland and Membership of our Club. Liam Callahan (NTW Road Captain) will do a Demo on his Tacx Turbo Trainer with Video Training routes. Following on from last Monday’s virtual hill climb challenge we’re going to have a second turbo trainer there for a head to head to make things a little bit more interesting… There may even be a little prize at the end. 🙂 We will also have a slide show of pictures and videos taken on club road and mountain biking spins during the last few months. Eugene Lynch from Giant bikes will also be there on the night.
Do your best to make it on the evening and get to know what our club is all about. Everybody is welcome. See ye there.
This FRIDAY evening we are starting a club Turbo training session that will be run over a course of six weeks. The first class starts this Friday 30th of January at 7pm at Busters Bootcamp spinning class which is situated over Moynans Bike shop in Kenyon street car park. The cost of the six week class is 50 euro and is well worth it. It is a structured spinning class and it will be a good opportunity to get in some extra winter training. If you might be interested in joining this Turbo session and if you want more information on it please contact our club chairperson Pat Bergin on 087 6744400
The time is flying this year so now we think its time to start advertising our annual club Table quiz night which will be held in the Dapp Inn, Nenagh on Friday the 27th of February at 9pm.
This is always a great laugh and a fun night out. It seems to bring out the competitive side in many. A table of four is 20 euro and we would ask our members to bring along spot prizes for the night. So start getting your general knowledge training started and the thinking caps on. Please try and support your club on the night. You’ll have a great time. Everyone is welcome. Bring as many friends and family as you like.
The usual spins will continue next weekend so keep an eye out on the website and Facebook for updates during the week.
