Club Notes / Next week’s spins

Last Saturday week we had two members taking part in the Chain Gang sportive around the scenic Slea Head on the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry. Rob Dalton and Ger Ryan. Well done lads on completing the event. It must have been spectacular in the lovely weather!!

On Tuesday evening a few members were out mountain biking on Coum hill, also we had the usual evening club spin where they took on the popular Nenagh, Portroe, Ballina, Birdhill loop.

Thurs evening Pat Bergin, Eoin Woods and Liam Callaghan went to Cloughjordan Mountain biking. When they were finishing up they were on a fast descent through the trees where Pat unfortunately caught one of them with his handlebars and in turn the bike (after losing Pat ūüėČ ) went flying saddle first into another tree, luckily he avoided impact himself and avoided serious injury but the saddle broke in the impact… The joys of it!!

On Sunday morning we had 12 members out on the club spin. It was arranged we would join up with members of our Neighbouring Lower Ormond cycling club in Borrisokane last weekend and with 8 of their members turning up we had a fine group on the road. Everyone cycled together to Riverstown at a good pace (30km/hr) and the full group stayed together until there, it really goes to show you how the Intermediate group have really developed this season.  After splitting in Birr the intermediate group returned by Walsh Park and Borrisokane, a total distance of 73km while our senior group continued on to Lorrha, Carrigahorig, Terryglass and back to Nenagh. Everyone had a great morning out and said it was lovely to mix with our neighbouring club from Borrisokane.
