Club Notes / Next week’s spins

Things are quietening down now in the club as the winter season draws closer with another week come and gone. Everyone is enjoying a well needed rest after the summer racing season and are back out with us taking part in the weekend club spins and mountain biking.

Tuesday evening a few members dusted off the mountain bikes for a fun filled couple of hours cycling the trails on Coum hill. Unfortunately Liam’s evening would come to an abrupt end when the chain on his bike snapped forcing him to stop only a half hour into the trails,  but all in all it was a good evening enjoyed by all.

A total of 14 riders took part in the Sunday club spin. The senior group took on a new route at the weekend which featured the challenging climb at the rear of Ogonnelloe, a route used a number of times by the Rás and the Junior Tour of Ireland. The intermediate group meanwhile departed from the seniors in Killaloe and continued on to O’ Brien’s Bridge and on to the coffee stop at Apple Green service station arriving shortly before the senior group.  A lovely feature of this spin was how everyone returned to Nenagh together as a group. It was great to see so many members out on what was a great morning.

Meanwhile we had 5 club members who made the trip to Mungret in Co. Limerick to participate in the Pieta House 100Km fundraiser so a very well done to you all for completing the event.
