Club Notes

Club Spins
Though a little windy at times, the conditions were perfect for cycling on both Saturday and
Sunday. As a result, we had good numbers out in total over both days. Well done to everyone who
took advantage of the clement weather.

Saturday training spin

The Saturday morning group left Woodie’s car park at 9am and headed out the N7 towards
Limerick, turning right at Birdhill and over the river at O’Brien’s Bridge. We turned left towards
Limerick and right at the Clonlara crossroads and on to Sixmilebridge for two rounds of coffee and
a discussion on the merits of disc brakes(!) at the Cozy Cottage café. Deviating from the usual
route, the group headed on through Kilmurry, Kilkishen and back to Broadford via the back of
Doon Lough. From there it was back to Killaloe via Bridgetown, and back to Nenagh via the N7.
Legs were tired at that stage. Well done to Pat and Dan who did so much hard work up front on a
very good 105km spin.

Sunday club spins
The leisure group did a fantastic 85km spin, leaving Moynan’s at 9am and heading out past
Toomevara and turning left to Cloughjordan, through Modreeney and on to Borrisokane for a well
earned coffee stop. They were only getting warmed up at that stage because they then decided to
head for Kilbarron and on to Kilbarron Quay and Luska Quay while enjoying the beautiful views,
and headed home to Nenagh via Puckaun and Ballycommon – reluctantly as they were enjoying
the spin so much. Well done everyone.

NTW members on a Sunday spin (missing from the photo is Eoin Dillon, who took the picture)

The orange group headed towards Roscrea and left for Birr where we stopped for a coffee and discussion about certain guests on the Ray D’Arcy show the previous night. We’ll leave it at that. From Birr it was on through Riverstown and Ballingarry and back towards Borrisokane. On the way, Mike Gleeson decided to show us how well his cyclocross skills had improved since he took up cycling with a short foray into the long grass. Not quite there yet Mike. An enjoyable spin of about 90km was had by all.
