Club Notes 26th October 2014
A good turnout for the weekend rides. Six riders left on the Saturday race training spin covering 100km on a familiar route from Nenagh to Broadford Co. Clare providing a great variation in terrain for this time of year. A great turn out of Twenty-seven on the Sunday spin took a circular route to Cloughjordan before returning to Nenagh. An early puncture split the group. Following some roadside repairs, the chasing group soon made it back to the main pack before they reached Cloughjordan and continued with this higher pace. Intermediate riders pursued providing great opportunity for individual development within the training groups. Tired legs were soon picked up by the pursing bunch on the return route. A perfect example demonstrating that even the misfortune of a puncture can contribute to improvement of personal and group abilities across a 70km spin. Riders should be seeking to identify a consistent training structure at this time of year to maintain and build on core fitness. If any member requires assistance with training plans or objectives, then please do not hesitate to contact the club.
The Club training spins continue for the following week. Saturday morning rides for the race training (9am from Stereame Car Park) and Sunday morning for leisure, intermediate and senior groups (9am from Moynans bike shop). All levels are catered for on Sunday morning so feel free to come along if you are new to cycling.
