2015 club racing calendar
The Club race calendar has now been published and can be viewed on the Calander 2015 page. The objective is to make club racing as open and inclusive as possible to all members and abilities. The calendar and race events are based on the race league structure that was introduced for the first time last year.
The race calendar is based around familiar races and series’ occurring each Thursday night between April and August. They include the JJ Moynan TT’s, road-racing over different routes and distances, and the championship races at the end of the summer. The league table will tot up each riders points from each race with the cyclist of the year (COY) competition being awarded to the rider with the most accumulated points over the races that count.
Last year’s competitions demonstrated that the handicap system was successful and this has been incorporated again for 2015 with some modifications responsive to rider abilities. This year, guidelines have been published on our Club Racing Page to explain the points system as clearly as possible. Club racing is designed to provide fair competition between riders of the same ability and therefore we hope all members will support our club races.
The league structure is only in its second year and whilst it is hoped that we have improved on last year, further modifications maybe necessary and member feedback will always be welcomed by email or contacting the race committee directly (Liam Callaghan, Gary Rowan and Pat Bergin).
We will kick off the Club racing season with a fun 2-Up TT race on April 2nd where 2 members will race together against the clock. This is sure to be a great, fun event and as there are no points up for grabs, there is no pressure so it will be a great way to dust off the cobwebs! 🙂 We want to see as many people as possible out in force on the evening so do please make an effort to get out if you can…
Details of each race including route and start line will be published in advance each week. We hope to see you all there on Thursday April 2nd.
Also we have published the new League Table. It shows which of the 3 handicapped groups you fall into so please have a look and if you have any queries about the group into which you have been assigned, please contact the race committee before the start of the season.
