2012 CLUB HILL CLIMB CHAMPION IS TOMMY HANRAHAN
Early on Sunday morning when we headed for Moynan’s shop for the pre-race meeting, the weather was so bad we didn’t really expect to find anyone but amazingly there was enough brave and hardy souls to run a race. By the time the race started, the rain had actually stopped but it was still windy. The route was from Castlelough car park to Portroe School – a distance of just 2.2 miles but tough! Tommy Hanrahan continued his run of great racing and took not only the fastest time but the Championship too while Pat Bergin took second in both categories, unable to overtake his colleague! In the race, Peter Moynan rode a great time to claim third place while Liam Callaghan had taken third in the flat race. In spite of the poor weather, five riders improved their times from last year – Pat, Liam and Duncan while Aidan and Tommy improved by a minute plus. Well done to all who turned out and rode so well!
That was the last race of the season and the club’s end of season get together wil be on Friday 19th October in Una Powell’s, Summerhill.
